The latest in the continuing crop of “world’s largest” container vessels, OOCL Hong Kong, was christened at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard on Geoje Island on the 12th May, 2017.

Although her overall size comes within the 400 metre LOA by 59 metre beam as most of the megamaxes afloat, she has a slot capacity of 21,413 – outdoing the latest Maersk Line vessel, Madrid Maersk which has a capacity of 20,568 TEU.

The new vessel’s rotation will be: Shanghai / Ningbo / Xiamen / Yantian / Singapore / via Suez Canal / Felixstowe / Rotterdam / Gdansk / Wilhelmshaven / Felixstowe / via Suez Canal / Singapore / Yantian / Shanghai in a 77-day round trip.
