Hit and Run on the way to scrapping – Malaysia

A German-owned containership, the 2,732 TEU Elbwolf, bound for scrapping in South Asia, was detained by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) after the crew were accused of a hit and run accident last week.

The ship, renamed for acrapping as “Olf”, hit two smaller tankers, Tina 7 and Straits 3, which were anchored off Batu Ayam in Malaysia, and carried on its way without reporting the incident which damaged the smaller ships.

The ship was owned by Germany’s Reederei Hermann Wulff.
