Freighter hits transporter bridge on Keil Canal, 8 January 2016

General cargo vessel EVERT PRAHM rammed transporter bridge in Rendsburg, Eider river, Kiel Canal, in the morning Jan 8. Vessel and bridge suffered considerable damage. The Canal was cklosed to traffic for about 10 hours while the accident was investigated and the transporter brought back to shore. Local reports say that the the overhead tracks and structure are undamaged. Vessel was en route from Liepaja, Lativa to Husum, Germany.

Evert Prahm is a general cargo vessel, 78.24m length × 11.7m beam, built in 1996, gross tonnage 1,598.
